I have a 98 ford escort 125,000 miles, I know how to change the spark plugs and wires, do a oil change, change the air filters but what else is done when you get a tune up. Also should I get the fuel filter done professional? What is all done when you get a tune up on a car?
A Tune-up varies with the shop or dealer you choose. The list you

have should include, Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Oil Filter.

With the miles you have on it there are several other concerns such

as Timing Belt and Alternator Belt, A/C Belt, and having the coolant

tested for its protection level (-40F) and a general check of hoses and

vacuum lines. While it is up in the air a under-car check will spot

and avoid problems with exhaust system and shocks and brakes etc.

A professional service with a reputable company is always a good

thing. Good luck with your ride! What is all done when you get a tune up on a car?

you can change the gas filter yourself. you need to clean out the throttle body with throttle body cleaner. don,t forget to check the pcv valve. with that many miles i would use the high mileage oil. that,s what i use in my oldsmobile, it has 130,000 on it.check all hoses including the vacuum hoses.
