You should be able to change all the service items in under an hour, plugs, fuel filter, oil filer, air filter and oil change! If its just the air filter 15mins max should do it. Just take your time and follow the manual, sure you'll be fine with it mate, next time you need to change one it'll take you about 3 minutes!
Fitting an aftermarket filter wouldnt be in the haynes manual, it only tells you how to replace the existing one. Still shouldnt take an hour though.
You might need to get the car set up again when you replace the standard filter with an induction kit.

if it takes an hour to replace an air filter on any vehicle then you are doing something wrong. It shouldn't be that difficult to get to any filter as they have to be changed frequently.
