i have a toyota echo 2003, i saw my airfilter bow and it has plugs, and sensors, if i change to a K%26amp;N filter where do i plug da original plug sensors?Changing air filter with aftermarket filter damage engine and how? if it doesnt dn how can u replace it?
K%26amp;N air filters need to be cleaned and re-oiled on a routine basis. If you incorrectly apply the oil to the filter and don't follow all the directions just right, you risk contaminating the MAF sensor with filter oil. Sometime you can clean the MAF, sometimes it's destroyed by the oil. Those MAF sensors are expensive.

If you live in a place with little dust you can probably get away with a K%26amp;N filter. They have less restriction because they don't filter as well as proper filters do.
Here in dusty Arizona K%26amp;N filters earn sneers from most enthusiasts. A friend put a replacement conventional filter in his Volvo and the valves started leaking within a year - the filter had a tear in it and the sand chewed his valves up. The filter manufacturer paid for the repair.

The K%26amp;N air filter needed for your car is a 33-2211. It is a drop-in filter meaning you just put it in where the old one was. The plug sensors you mention is most likely the mass air flow sensor. It is not directly connected to the filter but to the air box or arm leading to the airbox. A K%26amp;N filter will not damage your car. In fact, even a dirty K%26amp;N filter performs better than most new plain filters.
